The event starts at the non-permit LIRR Station north parking lot (on Jericho Tpke) that is open to the public on Saturday/Sunday. The course proceeds initially in a westerly direction, making use of bike lanes and paths to the Marine Park bridge in Brooklyn before heading east on the Riis Park boardwalk and then the Rockaway boardwalk before continuing east along the South Shore of Long Island. The course then heads north toward Riverhead before continuing east to Greenport before doubling back in a westward direction for the last 100 mile leg along the hillier North Shore of Long Island.
